ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has decided not to present the Budget 2026-27 on June 10, with the Ministry of Finance set to announce a new date later today.
According to sources, the decision to postpone the budget presentation was made during a meeting between the President and Prime Minister.
Sources said technical committees will determine the mechanism for the provinces to provide Rs1.7 trillion to the federal government, with the formation of these committees expected later today.
The meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), originally scheduled for today, has also been rescheduled and will now be held on June 10.
Earlier, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, while speaking informally to journalists at Parliament House, confirmed that several important budget-related matters had yet to be finalised.
He said the budget process was still under discussion and that a number of issues required further consultation before being given final shape. He added that the available time was limited and also referred to the upcoming month of Muharram.
Officials indicated that work on key fiscal matters is continuing before the government formally unveils the budget for the next financial year.
