TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iran's state media has clarified that even if Tehran and Oman reach an agreement on future shipping arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, it would not mean the strategic waterway would immediately reopen.
According to media reports, Iran's state broadcaster IRIB said ongoing discussions over future maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz are taking place solely between Tehran and Muscat and are not linked to the United States.
The sources said any potential agreement between Iran and Oman would be limited to administrative and operational arrangements for shipping.
They added that the decision to reopen or keep the Strait of Hormuz closed is a separate issue.

According to the report, even if both countries agree on a new maritime corridor or a joint management framework, Iran maintains that the Strait will remain closed until the United States ends what Tehran describes as its violations.

The remarks come amid reports in Iranian media that Tehran and Muscat are discussing the establishment of a joint maritime corridor through the Strait of Hormuz.
