Summary Obama paid his respects to US forces killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
US President Barack Obama paid his respects to fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery on the day before the tenth anniversary of 9/11.Accompanied by First Lady Michelle Obama, the president met with families who were visiting section 60 of the cemetery reserved for service members killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The president, in a black suit, walked hand in hand with the first lady past rows of graves pausing ocassionally to look at the tombstones.The White House said the president believed that it was particularly important for Americans to honor those who laid down their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan ahead of the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The two wars that began after the 9/11 attacks have so far claimed 6,213 lives.
