Summary US would veto a UN resolution creating Palestinian state if such measure reaches Security Council.
This was revealed by a top White House diplomatic nominee while talking to lawmakers Wednesday. The administration has been very clear as well -- and I dont expect this to occur, but that if it did occur, if any such resolution were put in front of the Security Council -- that we would veto it, said Wendy Sherman.Sherman, speaking to the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee weighing her nomination to be the US State Departments number-three, said Washington was doing everything it possibly can to block the Palestinian effort.A resolution at the United Nations is not really going to get us to the solution everybody is seeking. Direct negotiations will, and are the only path to that resolution, she told the panel. The United States is very resolved to a veto threat in the Security Council. What we are very resolved about as well is urging the parties to enter into direct negotiations again, she said.
