Summary US commander in Afghanistan says that al Qaeda is aiding saboteurs.
Talking to the media in Kabul, US General and Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) David Rodriguez said that al Qaeda in Afghanistan was not working under the active leadership of Osama bin Laden alone.He said that there were 100 al Qaeda operatives active in Afghanistan who were aiding the militants. The commander said that al Qaeda men were not involved in direct combat with western forces rather they were providing resources and technical aid to militants.The general said that it was too early to say the impact of Osama’s death on the Afghan war.
