Vincent Callebaut, who is an award winning architect, submitted his unconventional design, while taking part in an international competition announced by the French government, to change the spire with diamond shaped glass panels which will provide energy not only to the cathedral itself but to Paris as well.
Vincent re-design will make the curved spire of a special crystal glass which will absorb the light using the solar energy to power the 850-year-old building.

Mr Callebaut, of Paris, said: The idea is use this new architectural graft to turn Notre Dame into a positive energy building, designed to produce more energy than it consumes.
‘The rooster located and found in the rubble the day after the disaster will crown the spire again; in this position, it should remain the spiritual lightning rod and protector of the faithful.’
