Summary Libyan rebel leaders and the Western countries rejected peace plan presented by the African Union.
The AU delegation was met in Benghazi by up to 3,000 demonstrators holding banners reading: African Union take Gaddafi with you and Gaddafi has committed genocide.Rebel spokesman Abdel Hafiz Ghouga told a news conference after the talks in Benghazi why the deal was rejected.Meanwhile, Western leaders also rejected any deal that did not include Gaddafis removal, and NATO refused to suspend its bombing of his forces unless there was a credible ceasefire.Libyan officials have repeatedly said that Gaddafi, who holds no official state position, will not quit.
