U.S. Defense Secretary meets Saudi King, reaffirms American support

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates met with Saudi Arabia s King Abdullah in Riyadh during a brief visit to the Gulf Kingdom on Wednesday to reaffirm U.S. support for a country that is a regional anchor of U.S. security policy. Gates discussed unrest sweeping the region with the King.They also discussed the situation in Yemen where dozens of protesters died as a result of government forces’ crack down on anti-govt demonstrations. The Tunisian and Egyptian governments have been changed after continuous anti-govt demonstrations, while the demonstrations were also observed in eastern parts of Saudi Arabia.
