Summary Obama rejects Gaddafis letter, saying that ceasefire depends on actions rather than words.
Talking to reporters aboard a plane, Obama shrugged off Gaddafi’s appeal for end to NATO strikes.Meanwhile, White House spokesman Jay Carne confirmed that the White House had received a letter from Libyan President Moammar Gaddafi and it was not the first letter that was received. He said that President Obama had made it clear weeks ago that instead of counting on words, the US wanted practical measure to stop the allied attacks on Libya. It was written in the letter that Libya had been facing sanctions imposed by the international community and suffered the aggression in Reagan era so the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) attack on Libya should be stopped. The letter reads: “Establishment of democracy and civil society cannot be achieved by air strikes.”
