US President, Barack Obama met with Israeli President Shimon Peres in White house and discussed the Middle East situation. The two leaders agreed in principle that the current state of affairs in the Arab world was an opportunity as well as a challenge.Speaking after White House talks, President Obama said that they had detailed discussion on the political unrest in the Middle East. Obama emphasised that with the winds of change blowing through the Arab world, it was more urgent for Israel and Palestine to try and seize the opportunity and seek to advance their long-stalled peace process.According to officials, on the eve of the talks between Peres and Obama, the Jerusalem city council approved the construction of 942 new homes in Gilo, an Arab neighbourhood, along the eastern border.
