Summary Police rescued 39 students who lost way and had gone strayed in a suburban mountain.

The people who have lost their way on the mountain are 38 college students and a company employee, who are mountaineering fans. They were organised by a mountaineering society from the Beijing Institute of Technology. Owing to the unfamiliar routes and a drain on their strength, they lost the way when they descended the mountain. Nine of them came down the mountain and reported what had happened to them to the police.The rescuers were divided into six groups to climb up the mountain by five different routes. The Maoer mountain are some 700 metres above the sea level with complex terrains, and so the rescue operation evolves a high degree of difficulty and is very challenging.At first, the rescue team could contact the students missing in the mountain by cell phones. However, the signal is very ambiguous and instable and quite a number of students soon lost contact with the policemen sent to search for them.
