The tribal group abducted 16 people on Friday, April 1 and held them hostage in a forest in the southern Philippines. According to the authorities, the hostages include 12 school officials and two children aged 10 and 13. The incident happened after a graduation ceremony in La Prosperidad town on the southern island of Mindanao.The hostage-takers are demanding the release of their comrades and a tribal leader who were imprisoned in 2009 for holding 79 residents hostage in the same municipality after a land dispute between tribal groups.
