Egypt: Protesters attack State Security Force's headquarter

Summary Protesters attacked the State Security Forces head quarters in Alexandria. The security forces open fire injuring dozens of protesters.

According to an eye witness, protesters were gathering in front of the State Security Forces building since the morning of March 5, 2011. The nightfall a quarrel erupted between the protesters and the security forces. The forces the opened fire from inside the building and left dozens of protesters injured. The police though denied that they opened fire.Eyewitnesses doubt that any security officials were killed due to the firing. The protesters claimed that the situation worsened when the army intervened. The State Security Force which is a part of the police force is notorious for violence against civilians. After the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian people demanded that the State Security Force be dissolved.
