Summary Rebels in Libya repelled the fighters of Muammar Gaddafi from Brega city, some 800 kilometers away from Libyan capital Tripoli.

The rebels said that after a joint air and land attack, Gaddafi’s fighters gained control of the city for a while, but they were forced to retreat. The anti Gaddafi forces in Benghazi asked the United Nations for air raids on the regime forces. Meanwhile, Gaddafi, in a TV address, warned the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization of a horrible war in case of an attack on Libya .
