Protesters carried anti-government banners and chanted for change in a country that has been crippled by rising poverty and unemployment. Saleh, a US ally against a Yemen-based al Qaeda wing that has launched attacks at home and abroad, is struggling to end month-old protests flaring across his impoverished country. The country is also facing a southern separatist revolt and is trying to maintain a shaky truce with northern Shiite Muslim rebels.On the other hand, President Ali Abdullah has said that he will not resign and vows to fight until the last drop of his blood.
