UN Security Council imposes sanctions on Libya

Summary The UN Security Council has adopted the resolution of imposing sanctions on the Libyan government and also banned the foreign travelling of Muammar al-Gaddafi.

The Security Council meeting was called to discuss the security situation in Libya. According to the resolution, 16 Libyans, including nine family members of Gaddafi could not travel abroad. Their assets, out of Libya, were also frozen.The international criminal court will investigate the killings in Libya, the resolution stated. The resolution also banned Weapons supply to Libya. The UN has welcomed international humanitarian organizations’ denouncement of human rights abuse in Libya.
