Summary The Royal Air Force has airlifted 150 oil workers from Libyan desert and flew them to Malta.
The people rescued are belong to England, Austria and the Netherlands and were stranded in a desert near Benghazi. The ongoing riots in Libya, against head of regime Muammar al-Gaddafi, have also crippled the work at oil refineries and wells. Several hundred foreigner oil workers have stranded in desserts of Libya. The United Kingdom has also called back its embassy staff from the Libyan capital Tripoli.
