(Web Desk) - An ITV documentary to mark the death of Princess Diana 20 years ago is to be aired today. The documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, has inputs from Diana’s two sons and has renewed interest in her life.

According to BBC News both of Diana’s sons have spoken at length about their mother in the documentary.

Prince Harry who was just twelve years old when his mother passed away has said that he would forever regret how short his last phone call with his mother was. Prince William, the elder son, also expressed regret about the call and stated that during the telephone conversation "Harry and I were in a desperate rush to say goodbye, you know  see you later" and that if he had known what was going to happen he would never have been so "blasé about it and everything else”. The last phone call between Diana and her children took place when the princes were with their cousins at the Queen’s Scotland home, Balmoral.

Along with expressing regret at the call both princes also spoke about their mother’s enjoyable parenting style in which she encouraged them to be naughty and smuggled them sweets in their socks as well as instilling an understanding in them about the "real life outside of palace walls”.

Prince Harry also recalled a very funny moment from his childhood in which his mother invited supermodels Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell to their home. The prince recalls that he was a 12 or 13 year old boy at the time , who had posters of the models on his wall, and upon seeing the women he went “bright red, and didn t know quite what to say and sort of fumbled”.

Prince William said that he tries to keep the memory of Diana alive for his children as she would have made an amazing grandmother who would have loved her grandchildren "to bits,”. He also jokingly added that his mother would have been a "nightmare grandmother, absolute nightmare... She d come, probably at bath time, cause an amazing... scene, bubbles everywhere bath water all over the place and then leave."

Other than recalling their childhood memories of her the princes also spoke about their mother’s serious work such as her campaigns for ending homelessness and for banning the use of landmines.

Princess Diana was one of UK, s most famous princesses. She was fatally injured on 31 August 1997 in a car crash in Paris. To this day Diana remains one of the most famous British personalities of all time.
