Summary Several people have been trampled to death in Nigeria's southern oil-rich Niger Delta region on Saturday at President's election campaign rally.
The stampede occurred after a policeman fired into the air as thousands of supporters surged out of the stadium after President Goodluck Jonathans address in the oil hub city of Port Harcourt.According to some eyewitnesses the death toll could be as high as 10.Jonathans office and the police confirmed the stampede at Liberation Stadium but did not give casualty figures.
