ISTANBUL (AFP) - A massive power cut caused chaos Tuesday in large parts of Turkey, shutting down the metro systems in Istanbul and the capital Ankara, reports and official sources said.

It added that the power cut resulted from a failure in the country s power distribution system.

The Istanbul municipality also confirmed on Twitter that the city s subway network was halted.
