Summary Greenpeace have shut down a Shell petrol station for placing a robotic polar bear on the roof.

The life-like bear puppet was put on the roof of petrol station as part of a coordinated protest by the environmental campaigners over Shells plans to drill for oil in the Arctic.Around 100 petrol stations in London have been be targeted by the groups protest. Shell is due to begin drilling at two offshore sites in the Alaskan Arctic in the coming weeks.Greenpeaces Sara Ayech said: The oil giant Shell is preparing, for the first time, to unleash a drilling fleet of huge vessels upon the fragile and beautiful Arctic, home of the polar bears. Its time to draw a line in the ice and tell Shell to stop.Greenpeace launched a Save The Arctic campaign last month to preserve the land mass from oil exploration and industrial fishing.
