The rates of asbestos-related cancer cases have been on the rise and home renovations have been the reason behind such diagnosis.Recently an article was published in the Medical Journal of Australia which has drawn out the risk of asbestos-related cancer, which is caused by the toxic asbestos materials used at the time of renovations and leads to malignant mesothelioma (MM).Both men and women have been the victims of this material which leads to cancer, but recently the researchers from Australia have notified that the rate is rising among women.The researchers examined the data of a study from Western Australia that dealt with the role of asbestos fibres used in the home renovations in developing MM. It was observed that the count of asbestos-related cancer cases have gone up to 35% in women between 2005 and 2008 whereas it was 5% in the 1990s and in men the count was 3% in 1990s and has increased to around 8% during 2005 and 2008.
