Summary Google may settle online ad campaigns run by drug companies.
They are in negotiations with Department of Justice. The case alleges that certain online pharmacies illegally sell drug ad campaigns through Googles various ad programs. Google had released a cryptic regulatory filing showing it had earmarked a $500 million payment to the Department of justice to resolve a case. The settlement is said to be one of the highest ever paid to the government in a corporate dispute.In the investigation officials are looking into whether Google may have knowingly worked with advertisers who were using Googles ad platforms to promote illegal activities or not. The investigation has been carried out by the FDA and the U.S. Attorney Office in Rhode Island.
