Summary The PHF will announce the squad today for the inaugural Asian Champions Trophy to be held in China.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation chief selector Hanif Khan will announce the 18-member squad in Islamabad’s Nasir Bunda Stadium where the training camp has entered its final phase.It is expected that current captain Muhammad Imran will be retained as captain.The national team will leave for China on August 28 for the tournament.Pakistan will begin the six-nation tournament as the favourites because of their gold-medal-winning triumph at the Asian Games in China lastDecember.The tournament will see in action the top six finishers at the Asian Games in Guangzhou — champions Pakistan, losing finalists Malaysia, third-placed India, South Korea, Japan and China.The highlight of the tournament will be the Pakistan-India clash on September 9.
