Summary Alex Bogomolov pulls off a second-round upset of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Cincinnati.

Bogomolov continued his breakout season on tour with a straight-set upset win over Tsonga on Wednesday afternoon at the Cincinnati Open. Frances Tsonga, a semi-finalist at Wimbledon, fell to the 28-year-old Florida-based, Moscow-born Bogomolov 6-3 6-4.The American did not face a single break point the entire way and advanced to a third-round clash against Andy Murray after one hour and 12 minutes. One break in each set proved to be enough for Bogomolov, as Tsongas undoing was a failure to win second-serve points or baseline points as a whole. The 15th-seeded Frenchman won only 38 percent of his second-serve points in the first set and that number climbed to a mere 44 percent in the second. A clinching hold at 5-4 in set two sent Bogomolov safely though to another crack at Murray, whom he defeated earlier this year in Miami.
