Summary India won the first match of the five-match one-day international series against West Indies.

India beat West Indies by four wickets in the first ODI of the five-match series.West Indies decided to bat first after winning the toss and made 214 runs in the allotted 50 overs. Ramnaresh Sarwan was the top scorer for the home side making 56 runs and was ably supported by Marlon Samuels, who made 55 runs.In reply, India reached the target in 44.5 overs for the loss of six wickets. Rohit Sharma guided the visitors to victory with an unbeaten knock of 68 runs. Shikhar Dhawan made 51 runs while captain Suresh Raina scored 43 runs. Second match of the series will be played on June 8.
