Summary Thousands were evicted from their homes as preparations continue for the 2014 Football World Cup.
The Brazilian authorities demolished hundreds of homes belonging to the poor people in order to prepare transport system to facilitate the visitors and spectators of the 2014 Football World Cup and 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.The human rights organisation stood up and demanded better homes for the affectees.Amnesty International Secretary General Salil Shetty visited the affectees and assured them of solving their problems by consulting the government officials.
