(WebDesk) – Following PTI’s impressive victory in the General Elections 2018, a new spur of hope has engulfed the entire country. Along with the general public, the cricketers, too, are hopeful that an untainted and corruption-free PM elect like Imran Khan would guide their beloved country from darkness towards light.

Since Imran Khan is an internationally recognized hero and a former cricket captain himself, the cricket community is especially anxious to see whether or not the 65-year-old’s dream of a ‘Naya Pakistan’ will become a reality or not. Most cricketers believe that their ideal has always delivered when he has promised something so they are especially optimistic that Khan will guide his governing team to deliver or face dire consequences otherwise.
Talking to Dunya News, former National team player and coach, Mohsin Hassan Khan was all praises for his ex-colleague. “As far as I know Khan, I can assure you that there will be absolutely no compromise on corruption during his tenure. There will be no tainted individuals heading or working in Pakistan’s top national institutions. Imran has started a movement to eradicate corruption from Pakistan and I can assure you that he will go the extra mile to make sure he achieves that goal”, claimed the former chief selector.

Pakistan’s national hero and ICC Champions Trophy winning captain, Sarfraz Ahmed also shared his point of view regarding Khan. He said: “People all over the world play cricket but no one has earned the respect that Imran Khan has managed to do so. Similarly no cricketer is as big a politician as Imran Khan.Cricketing Legends like Kapil Dev and Sir Viv Richards have congratulated Khan on his impressive victory; these little things speak of the magnitude and stature of Khan’s capabilities.”

Imran, the man himself, has made so many promises that one starts to wonder whether he will stay true to his word or not. Only time will tell how ‘Naya Pakistan’ unfolds but one thing is certain: Khan has the expectations of millions riding on his shoulders.
