(Dunya News) – After a hiatus of over 50 years, the ‘Mulki Polo Tournament’ has finally returned to Chitral.
The polo tournament which began in 1928 was held regularly till 1956.
The sport which has made its comeback after decades has brought great joy among the locals of the region. The tournament is being participated by more than 50 teams from Chitral.
Matches are being held under the supervision of the district government.

Polo is one of the most cherished games of Chitral, attracting a large number of spectators. For the match, an enthusiastic crowd was present at the the polo ground that echoed with cheers and applause.
Speaking to Dunya News, Deputy Commissioner Irshad Ahmed Sodhar said that with such a rich culture, Chitrali youth were now more interested to play the sport. “They feel a sense of pride playing this game and this tournament will encourage them more to pursue it further.”
Polo which is considered one of the most expensive games in the world needs support and attention from the government. Chitralis love for polo has still made it sustain even after so many years of absence.
