LAHORE (APP) – A five member Pakistan Karate squad on Thursday left for Japan to take part in 17th Asian Cadet, Junior & U-21 Karate Championship being held from May 11-13 at Budokan Okinawa.
Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) Secretary Andleeb Sandhu said that the team comprises four players, two male and two female, and a coach. The team comprises top notch youthful karate players of the country and it was selected on merit based on the performance of the players in the national events, she said.
The PKF official while commenting on the formation of the team, said Shahbaz Khan (Gold Medalist of South Asian Karate Championship) will compete in Junior-68 Kg category. Saweel Fayyaz (South Asian Silver Medalist) will participate in U-21 -75 Kg category.
Sadia Sharif will fight in U-21 -55 Kg and Ayesha Ibrahim will participate in U-21 -61 Kg category. Shah Muhammad Shan will be the coach of the team.
She said PKF is striving hard for the cause of the game by organizing karate events at national level on regular basis, besides ensuring the participation of its teams in international events abroad.
