Summary Area remained battlefield due to clash between police and affected people during recovery operation.
Railways administration along with heavy contingents of police carried out an operation to recover 30-Marla grabbed railway land in Singh Pura area of Lahore.When the houses were tried to raze by the authorities, the affected people resisted furiously and pelted stones on the police. The police resorted to baton charge and tear gas shelling.The protestors were of the view that they are residing here for years and railway authorities issued order to vacate the house on one day notice and no alternate residence is provided.The police demolished seven houses with the help of railway authorities after dispersing the protestors. The railway official said that they conducted the operation on the Supreme Court orders which asked them recover grabbed railway land from illegal occupiers.
