Summary All CNG stations of Sindh region including Karachi has been closed for 2 days from 11 pm on Tuesday.
Commuters in Karachi and other parts of Sindh province were struck by CNG closure as the supply was stopped from 11 pm on Tuesday. Public transport vanished from the roads as the vehicles could not be refueled due to long queues at gas stations.There are 18000 buses, mini buses and coaches in city of Karachi from which about more than 80% run by CNG. Due to the scarcity of CNG, public transport remained unavailable and the commuters faced severe difficulties as their daily routine was affected adversely. Taking advantage of the situation, the taxi and rickshaw drivers also raised fares, said locals.The 48-hour closure till 11pm on Thursday is part of a schedule announced by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Monday, specifying the days and timings when the gas supply to CNG stations would be curtailed in the province till December 11.
