Summary Faisalabad police allegedly torched a 16-year-old boy after pouring kerosene on him.
Police arrested Azeem, residential of 7 Chak, on charges of robbery. Policemen allegedly tortured him in the lock-up and when his condition deteriorated, they set him on fire. The policemen locked the room from the outside while the youth was on fire inside. The cruel cops then bothered not to check up on him and left for meal. Another cop reportedly heard the youth’s screams and opened the room.Azeem, who is under treatment for burns, said when he cried for help, a constable opened the door and helped him to flee. Azeem’s mother alleged that the police torched her son and did not shift him to hospital.The victim is being treated in Allied Hospital in critical condition. According to doctor, 80 percent body of Azeem has been burnt.According City Police Officer Rai Muhammad Tahir, police recovered a stolen motorcycle from Azeem. The CPO said the boy has a history of crimes, adding that he torched himself only to divert attention from his crime. He stated that ASI Sayed Anwer and a constable have been suspended on charge of negligence. SP Madina Town will present a report regarding the case in 24 hours, he added.
