FIA arrests UK visa assistant for human trafficking

Summary FIA has arrested Khurram Shahzad Gul, visa assistant at UK High Commission, Islamabad.

He has been arrested along with two close aides in a crackdown in Rawalpindi on charges of running a human trafficking network. The UK High Commission has confirmed the visa assistant’s arrest.FIA Director Inam Ghani said Khurram has been arrested on charges of running a human smuggling network. He said the accused has been charging millions of rupees for getting people visas of different countries. The FIA official said the network used to forge documents to get visas. A sponsor letter of the BHC Islamabad Khurram has been found on Khurram, the official added.The BHC spokesman said that the High Commission would fully cooperate with the FIA in the investigation. He said that the Commission was fully in touch with the FIA in this regard.In another crackdown, the FIA Passport Cell arrested Mian Murtaza on charges of human smuggling. The FIS has seized 14 passports recovered from the accused. The FIA said the accused has deprived innocent people of millions of rupees on fake promises of getting them European visas.
