Summary Lawyers in Karachi are boycotting the courts as a protest against the killing of their colleague.

The Karachi Bar, Malir Bar and the Sindh High Court Bar gave a joint strike call against the killing of Barrister Muhammad Murtuza Chinoy who was shot dead by two armed men, who barged into his office located in Zamzama.No case was heard in Karachi courts while the number of cases heard in the Sindh High Court remained low.Some 19 lawyers have been killed in this year so far. The Sindh Bar Council Vice Chairman Iftikhar Javed Qazi said that the lawyers will protest for five more days.He went on to add that the lawyers will not defend a target killing accused.He said that a movement will be launched against target killings after Eidul Fitr.
