Karachi plunges in darkness owing to KESC mismanagement

Rain, otherwise a blessing, turned into agony for the citizens due to mismanagement of the power company.It has exposed the tall claims of the KESC which has been boasting of spending heaving amount on renovation and betterment of the power supply system.As soon as downpour started, light in 50% of the city went out. The KESC assured the citizens of restoring the power supply within a few hours, saying it has deployed a large number of employees on restoration work.About 24 hours have lapsed and Landhi, Korangi, Clifton, Orngi, New Karachi and Old city area are yet without power. On the other hand, wire-breaking incident also took place in different parts of city.The main line passing from Nagan Choragi was cut into pieces after strong winds. The KESC officials deployed a large number of its worker for the security of the wire but the citizens were left on their own. Cut in power also caused scarcity of water in the affected areas.According to statics, the entire city is in need of millions of gallons of water during 24 hours.
