Summary The security of 2500 mosques in the city has been left on private security guards.
There are 3994 mosques in Lahore which have been divided into three categories regarding law and order situation.264 mosques have been included in Category-A, 652 mosques in Category-B and 2478 mosques have been included Category-C.Four police officials would guard each Category-A mosques, 2 officials would be deputed on Category-B mosque while, private security guards would be appointed on Category-C mosques.According to DG Operations, Ghulam Merhmood Dogar, the Lahore police department is facing shortage of forces which would be removed to maintain law and order in the city.Dogar added that 13 reserve upper subordinates, 13 reserve head constables, 91 reserve constables, while 124 reserve private guards will be deputed during Ramazan.
