Summary According to KESC, electricity shortfall has crossed 800 megawatt in Karachi.
The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) has suspends power supply to industrial units.According to a KESC spokesman, the step has been taken after Sui Southern Gas Pipelines Limited (SSGPL) reduced gas supply to the corporation.He added that SSGPL suddenly reduced gas supply to 158 mmsf which adversely affected generation capacity of the KESC.On the other hand, he said, turbines of Bin Qasim Power Plant and Korangi Combine Cycle Plant also tripped owing to low gas pressure. He said it would take hours to restore the plants to the working conditions.He said that in the present situation, the electricity shortfall had crossed 800 megawatt in the city after shortage of 160 megawatt of electricity due to reduced gas supply.
