Summary Powerloom Association secretary general warned of a protest movement if situation does not improve.
Residents and businessmen have called for a protest movement against electricity long load shedding in Multan. Due to the 575 megwatt electricity shortfall from Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO), load shedding hours are now up to 12-12 hours in the urban areas and 12-14 hours in the rural areas.As a result, people are facing problems in every day activities. Not only that, electrical appliances are being damaged due to the frequent load shedding.Electricity is not being provided to the domestic and commercial users according to the schedule. The unannounced load shedding has not only made life difficult at home, it is also gravely affecting businesses.Powerloom Association Secretary General Khaliq Qandeel said that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani should take steps to reduce the load shedding in Multan. He said that if the situation does not improve they would protest by surrounding the MEPCO office.
