ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan and Malaysia have concluded a two-week joint counterterrorism military exercise at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi, reinforcing defence cooperation and operational coordination between the two countries.

The fourth edition of Exercise Harimau Markhore-IV began on 7 October 2026 and focused on enhancing combat capabilities through joint training, operational drills and the exchange of military experience.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army's media wing, the exercise provided troops from both countries with an opportunity to share operational expertise, refine combat techniques and exchange best practices in counterterrorism operations.

The drills were designed to improve professional skills and strengthen the participating forces' ability to coordinate their approaches to counterterrorism challenges. Training activities focused on refining operational procedures and incorporating practical lessons from the two militaries' experience.

The exercise also provided a platform for personnel from Pakistan and Malaysia to work together, exchange knowledge and develop a stronger understanding of each other's operational methods.

ISPR said the successful completion of Harimau Markhore-IV reaffirmed the longstanding military cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia, as well as their shared commitment to expanding collaboration in counterterrorism.

The fourth edition of the exercise forms part of ongoing defence engagement between the two countries, with joint training serving as a channel for exchanging expertise and improving operational preparedness.

Held at the NCTC in Pabbi, the two-week exercise brought the participating forces together for specialised counterterrorism training, with an emphasis on practical drills and the application of operational best practices.
