KARACHI (Web Desk) – Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has dismissed speculation about the division of Sindh, saying such claims are not taken seriously and that the province will never be divided.
Speaking alongside Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab at the inauguration of the Munawar Chowrangi Underpass in Karachi, Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had carried out more development work in the city than any other government.
He said the PPP had constructed numerous underpasses and bridges across Karachi, adding that several marriage halls built on public playgrounds had been demolished under the city administration led by Mayor Wahab to restore public spaces.
Rejecting claims that Karachi had become one of the world's worst cities, Shah said the city's continued population growth reflected its economic importance and attractiveness.
"If Karachi were in such poor condition, people would not continue to move here," he said, describing the metropolis as a "Mini Pakistan" where citizens from all parts of the country are welcome to live and work.
The provincial minister said the mayor and town chairmen were working around the clock to improve civic infrastructure and municipal services. He added that complaints received from residents were being addressed promptly through immediate administrative action.
Responding to a question about reports suggesting the division of Sindh, Shah reiterated that the province would never be divided.
"Some people keep raising such issues, but we do not take them seriously. We remain focused on our work, and Sindh can never be divided," he said.
