LAHORE (Dunya News) – Torrential downpour continue to take its toll in different parts of the country, leaving 19 people dead and 25 injured in rain-related incidents in 24-hours, Dunya News reported here on Saturday.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released a report on the damage caused by monsoon rains across the country.
According to the NDMA report, a total of 97 people have lost their lives since June 26, while 297 people have been injured. The deceased include 43 children, 33 men and 21 women.
According to the report, 52 people died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 29 in Punjab, 7 in Azad Kashmir, 6 in Balochistan, 2 in Sindh, and one person in Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the NDMA, 203 people were injured in Punjab, 75 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15 in Balochistan, and 2 each in Azad Kashmir and Sindh due to the rains.
Monsoon rains have so far damaged 447 houses, while 269 livestock have been killed in the flood situation. 6 bridges and 9 kilometers of roads have also been damaged due to the rains.
It is reported that 19 people lost their lives due to roof collapses and electrocution due to ongoing rains across Pakistan, while a total of 97 people have lost their lives since June 26.
A man and his wife and their daughter died when the roof of their house collapsed in Garhi Shahu, Lahore, while their daughter was injured. In Gujrat, three siblings died when the roof collapsed, including 15-year-old Ali, 14-year-old Iman, and 13-year-old Falak Sher.
Two people, including a 7-year-old child, died when a roof collapsed in Kasur. A woman died and four people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Hujra Shah Muqim. In Hangu, Darsamand, the roof of a house collapsed due to rain, resulting in the death of two children and the injury of three people, including two women.
Two children lost their lives after drowning in water accumulated due to rain in Kasur Raja Jang. The deceased children have been identified as 10-year-old Saad and 11-year-old Ehsan.
A person died of electrocution in Bahawalnagar, a 7-year-old child died of electrocution from an electric pole in Okara, and a father of 5 died of electrocution from an electric pole in Daska.
In Sheikhupura, an electric wire fell on a passenger bus, killing the bus conductor and injuring six people.
In Umerkot, a child died after being struck by lightning. In Tharparkar, a person drowned and died.
