Summary PPP leaders Aitzaz Ahsan and Babar Awan have filed their nomination papers for Senate elections.
After being nominated by their parties, candidates form all major political factions are filing their papers today to ECP’s regional offices as Tuesday is the last date of submission.“I have filed my papers today. Thanks to President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP’s Parliamentary Board for my selection as candidate,” said Aitzaz who is also Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s lawyer in contempt of court case.Talking to newsmen alongside Babar Awan after submitting papers, Aitzaz vowed to strive for supremacy of law and dignity of the legislator, predicting that “there is no threat to the Parliament”. He said respect of the court must be sustained.Awan said on the occasion that PPP is the name of a movement, not a part. It’s a vital era when we are experiencing a civilian supremacy.
