Four labourers die of suffocation while cleaning sewerage line in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – At least four laborers died after inhaling toxic fumes while cleaning a sewerage line in the FIEDMC Industrial Area of Faisalabad on Friday, Dunya News reported.

According to rescue officials, the victims were cleaning a newly constructed sewerage line that was 18 feet deep. During the work they inhaled toxic gas as a result, all four workers lost their lives.

The deceased were identified as Riffatullah, Kifayatullah, Hassan, and Dilawar. Rescue teams recovered the bodies from the sewerage line and shifted them to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.

Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir, while taking notice, has constituted a six-member inquiry committee to investigate the incident. He stated that action would be taken against responsible persons.

The Deputy Commissioner also expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased workers and assured them that a full investigation into the incident would be conducted.
