GILGIT (Dunya News) - Time for election campaign for Gilgit-Baltistan general elections ended at midnight Friday. Voting will be held on Sunday (June 7), Dunya News reported.
According to details, a total of 396 candidates are contesting in 24 constituencies for the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, including 266 independent candidates. Seven women candidates are also contesting the election.
The election commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has set up 1,368 polling stations for the voters. Of these, 480 have been declared as highly sensitive, 350 as sensitive, and 457 as normal.
The total number of registered voters across the region is 958,780, including 503,772 male voters and 454,708 female voters.
The provincial administration has also completed its security arrangements. During the election process, 15,000 police personnel will be deployed to perform security duties.
