ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court on Friday directed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to obtain and present the record of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri’s law degree from Karachi University.

The IHC has scheduled the case against Justice Jahangiri for rehearing on December 9.

A division bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan issued a written order summoning the degree record. The order states that without touching upon the merits of the case, the court is seeking the record of Justice Jahangiri’s degree. The competent authority at HEC has been instructed to collect the record and submit it before the court.

The order further directs the HEC to present the complete record along with proper verification of the law degree.

According to the written order, the court has also summoned an authorised officer from Karachi University who is familiar with the relevant facts. After reviewing the degree record and determining the maintainability of the petition, the court will proceed further.

The IHC stated that the amicus curiae will assist the court on the question of maintainability in the next hearing.
