Summary The government has decided to move Supreme Court for constitutional immunity of President Zardari.
A meeting of legal experts of Pakistan Peoples’ Party was held to discuss interpretation of constitutional immunity for president Zardari in NRO case, at Presidency in Islamabad.During the meeting, the Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani appointed Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan his counsel in contempt of court proceedings. It was further decided that Aitzaz Ahsan will also defend the government in NRO case.The PPPs legal experts also decided that a petition will be filed in Supreme Court for the interpretation of Presidential immunity under article 248 of the constitution and the government will contend in the court that that no case can be reopened against President Zaradri as for as he is the President of Pakistan.
