Summary Senate Committee said no trade can be done with India unless Kashmir issue is settled.
The committee for foreign affairs said that they are in favour of trade with India but it is not possible without outstanding progress on Kashmir, water and other issues.In this regard, a special meeting of the committee was held in which FM Hina Rabbani Khar and Foreign Office officials briefed the committee about recommendations offered by the Ambassadors Conference, India as favourite nation and Pakistan’s ties with Afghanistan and the US.Committee chairman Saleem Saifullah while briefing the media said that according to recommendations of ambassadors, the government would have to take permission from parliament regarding an agreement with ISAF or handing over airbases to any foreign country.The committee said that the US can have dialogues with Taliban, why cant Pakistan have.The committee recommended that trade with India should be increased but Kashmir and other bones of contention should be resolved on priority basis.
