Summary A meeting of legal aides of Husain Haqqani was held on Wednesday.
It was decided that a review petition will be filed in the Supreme Court over its verdict for appointing a probe commission to look into the alleged memo affair.The legal team consisting of Ms Asma Jehangir, Syed Zahid Husain Bokhari, Idrees Asharf and Sajid Tanoli discussed the legal challenges in detail.It was decided that Syed Zahid Bokhair will be the lead counsel for Haqqani for the probe commission appointed by the Supreme Court. He will be assisted by Advocate Sajid Tanoli, a well known lawyer of Rawalpindi/Islamabad.Mr Bokhari also represented Mohtrama Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in the 90s in a number of cases that were filed against her to politically victimise her.Asma Jehangir and Idrees Asharf Advoate will be working on the review petition that will be filed soon.Lawyers, while meeting with their client decided to prepare a solid defence for their client and to fight the legal battle at all fora. It was again resolved that while Haqqani will present himself to any inquiry conducted under due process of law, his fundamental rights will be protected under all circumstances and if need be legal actions to ensure that could be taken in Pakistan and abroad as the legal team decided.Ms Asma had previously refused to continue as counsel for Haqqani after SC appointed a judicial commission for probe. However, in latest reports her name again appeared as part of legal team.
