Summary Oil and Gas Regularity Authority has directed the CNG association to stop refueling the vehicles.
Oil and Gas Regularity Authority (OGRA) has directed All Pakistan CNG Association to immediately stop refueling of vehicles where cylinders are installed beneath the passenger seat or on rooftop. During a meeting held here on Friday under the chairmanship of the OGRA Chairman and attended by Chairman, All Pakistan CNG Association, the officers of HDIP, OGRA and other relevant departments to discuss various preventive measures to avoid occurrence of fire incidents in CNG fitted public transport. The spokesman of OGRA, in pursuance of the meeting informed that the Chairman, All Pakistan CNG Association, submitted its plan for certification of vehicles at authorized workshops/ CNG Stations for immediate implementation to eliminate refueling of unauthorized/ substandard CNG converted public vehicles including buses, mini-buses, vans, mini-vans in which cylinders are installed at roofs or beneath the seats would not supplied gas as such installation is in volatile of the Safety Code of Practice.It was further informed that the license of those CNG stations would be cancelled where CNG station is found violating the refueling procedure/ Standard Code of Practice appended with CNG Rules, 1992.During the meeting it was told that in case of non-compliance, the defaulter CNG Stations shall be disconnected and punitive action would be taken against the violators under the Law. The CNG licensees were directed to fully cooperate with APA for strict compliance to ensure public safety failing which, the Marketing License granted to them by OGRA will be revoked.The OGRA has already disconnected 13 CNG stations Friday found violating the refueling procedure/ Standard Code of Practice as a part of ensuring public safety at large.
